Step-By-Step Guide To Using Fishin’ Prints
Fishin’ Print Instructions
Set Up the Printing Area: Make sure the surface where you’ll print the fish is properly safeguarded, as ink can leave stains on clothes and surfaces used during printing. A non-porous surface is suggested or else risk staining surface.
Clean the Fish: Wash off the fish’s slime under running water, then dry it with a paper towel or rag. Ensure you have a paper towel left over for printing.
Prepare the Ink: Open the ink packet and squeeze it into the ink dish.
Dilute the Ink: Add a small amount of water to the ink dish (around ½ ounce, or roughly 1-2 water bottle caps fulls) to thin out the ink to desired darkness. If you want a lighter print, use more water, for a darker print, use less water.
Mix the Ink: Stir the ink and water together with the paintbrush until fully blended. Add more water if it feels necessary, though we’ve found less water works best to get the most detailed print.
Apply Ink to Fish: Coat one side of the fish with ink using the brush, covering the whole surface, including fins and details you want to capture in the print. Don’t forget to spread the fins and coat them too.
Soaking up Excess Ink on Fish: Dab the inked fish with the provided paper towel to remove excess ink, preventing a print that’s too dark. Aim for a light, mottled pattern across the fish for the best outcome. Be sure residual ink on surface is cleaned up before printing.
Print the Fish: Place the cloth over the fish and press down gently across its surface. Working around each detail of the fish. Be sure to extend the fins from under the cloth for sharper detail in the print.
Reveal the Print: Lift the cloth carefully to reveal your Fishin’ Prints masterpiece!
Dry the Print: Let the print air dry for at least 30 minutes or until the ink becomes matte.
